I have been a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor (A.D.I.) for over 2 years. Before that, I was a driving tester in Galway, Ennis, Cork and Limerick. As a former tester I feel I have a good insight into the whole test experience. When I feel a client is almost ready for their test I will give them a ‘mock’ test to assess their full progress. I conduct these tests exactly as I would have when employed as a tester, completing a marking sheet and discussing with the client in detail what errors and mistakes they made during the test. I feel this is a great preparation for the real test.
If you have a learners permit issued before April 4th, 2011 you are not mandated to complete the 12 E.D.T. lessons, but having a number of lessons before your test is a must. If you have already sat a test and been unsuccessful, I will work with you to get you ready to complete another test.
I also worked as an instructor before training to be a tester. I feel I have a good rapport with people and at the moment I have clients from 17-70, male and female. I am always courteous and polite. I promise I will never shout and will do my very best to make my clients careful, calm and courteous drivers. I don’t teach clients just to pass their driving test, but to be good road users all their lives. A car is a lethal weapon and in the wrong hands can be deadly. I teach clients to have respect for the power of their car and to respect all other road users. Remember, motorcyclists, pedestrians and cyclists are road users too and have just as much right to respect as other car users. Always treat others as you would like to be treated. I teach clients to be progressive drivers not aggressive drivers.
I will do the very best I can for all of my clients. I will do lessons whenever a client wants them, including Sunday’s and Bank Holidays. Sometimes when a client is starting out, early mornings can be a good time to have a lesson before traffic gets too heavy, and that’s fine with me.
In October 2011, the Irish Times ran an article on women succeeding in business during the recession. If you scroll to the bottom of the page, you will find the section on me and my business.
